
Kolkata, May 19 – West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee is set to begin a multi-day tour of the state’s northern districts starting Monday, with a series of official engagements and strategic meetings lined up.
According to officials, the Chief Minister will arrive at Bagdogra airport near Siliguri in the evening and is expected to hold her first meeting shortly after landing. She will be staying at Uttarkanya, the state government’s branch secretariat located in Siliguri.
Key Highlights of the CM’s North Bengal Visit:
- Monday (May 19): Arrival in Siliguri and first meeting shortly after arrival.
- Tuesday (May 20): Participation in a public programme at Fulbari Videocon Ground.
- Wednesday (May 21): Chairing an administrative review meeting involving top officials from all northern districts of the state.
An important highlight of the tour includes a meeting with industrialists, signaling the government's intent to promote investment and economic growth in the northern belt of Bengal.
Security Measures Tightened
Security has been intensified across Siliguri, the second-largest city in the state, ahead of the Chief Minister’s arrival. Multiple agencies have been deployed to ensure smooth execution of the tour and public events.Mamata Banerjee is expected to return to Kolkata on Thursday, May 22, after concluding her tour.
