New Delhi, Feb 26: A man has been arrested for allegedly stealing 96 luxury watches, including high-end brands such as Rado and Tissot, valued at approximately ₹40 lakh in southwest Delhi, police officials confirmed on Wednesday.

The accused, identified as 46-year-old Pradeep, hails from Muradnagar, Ghaziabad. The incident came to light on February 21 when complainant Sudhanshu Kumar reported the theft. According to his statement, on the night of February 20 at around 11:00 pm, a consignment of expensive watches was being transported from Faridabad to Rangpuri. During the transit, the delivery van driver allegedly conspired with Pradeep to steal 20 boxes of luxury watches.

To track down the culprits, a police team conducted an intelligence-led operation, scrutinizing CCTV footage and call detail records (CDR) of the suspects. On February 24, investigators raided a showroom in Muradnagar, leading to the recovery of 96 stolen watches. Deputy Commissioner of Police (Southwest) Surendra Choudhary confirmed that the serial numbers of the recovered items matched those of the stolen inventory.

Pradeep was arrested on the spot, and further investigations are underway to trace other potential accomplices. Authorities are also probing whether similar thefts have been carried out by the same network.
