Ranchi, May 11 — A man was arrested in Jharkhand’s capital on Sunday for allegedly posting content linked to international terrorist organisations on social media, raising serious concerns over national security.

The individual was taken into custody from the Pundag area of Ranchi after local MLA C P Singh flagged the matter to authorities. Following his appeal, police promptly initiated action, leading to the suspect's arrest.

“The person has been arrested and an FIR has been registered at the Pundag police outpost,” confirmed DSP Amar Kumar Pandey.

The controversy erupted after MLA C P Singh posted on social media platform X, condemning the content shared by the accused. “The pictures shared on his social media are extremely provocative and related to national security and sovereignty of India. Most seriously, he has shared the flag which is the identity of international terrorist organisations… This is not only open treason, but also a clear indication of a terrorist mindset,” Singh stated.

Authorities have begun a detailed investigation into the incident to ascertain the motive and any potential links with extremist entities.

The case has sparked concerns over the misuse of social media platforms and their role in spreading harmful propaganda.
