Accused Booked for Post Allegedly Insulting Indian Flag and Operation Sindoor
Sambhal, Uttar Pradesh, May 10 — A man has been arrested in Uttar Pradesh's Sambhal district for allegedly posting objectionable content on Facebook targeting Operation Sindoor and insulting the Indian national flag, police officials said on Saturday.Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) Anukriti Sharma confirmed that the arrest was made after local law enforcement intensified social media surveillance in the region following the execution of Operation Sindoor. The operation involved retaliatory military strikes by India targeting terror infrastructure across the border.
According to the police, Sartaj Ali, a resident of Kamalpur village under Bahjoi police station, was found to have made a Facebook post containing "objectionable" remarks against the military operation. The post also reportedly included statements deemed disrespectful to the national flag.
"A case has been registered against Sartaj Ali under Section 152 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), which pertains to acts endangering the sovereignty, unity, and integrity of India," ASP Sharma stated.
The police have reiterated their ongoing efforts to monitor digital platforms and warned that strict action will be taken against any individual found promoting anti-national content or spreading misinformation online.
