Incident Sparks Outrage; Case Registered Under New Criminal Code

Jalna (Maharashtra), April 3:
A man from Jamwadi village in Maharashtra’s Jalna district has been booked for allegedly killing a cow after it refused to be milked, police confirmed on Wednesday.

According to officials from the Tehsil police station, the incident took place on Tuesday when the accused tried to milk the cow. Upon being kicked by the animal, he reportedly reacted violently and struck the cow on its head with a spade, leading to its instant death.

The act drew immediate attention, with members of cow vigilante groups and Bajrang Dal activists rushing to the scene upon learning of the incident.

Following a complaint filed by a Bajrang Dal member, police registered a case under Section 325 of the Bhartiya Nyaya Sanhita, which deals with “mischief by killing, poisoning, maiming, or rendering an animal useless.”

Authorities have initiated an investigation and further proceedings are underway.
