New Delhi, May 12 – A 35-year-old man was fatally stabbed during a suspected robbery attempt in the Bawana area of outer north Delhi late Sunday night, police said.
The victim, identified as Mustafa, a resident of JJ Colony in Bawana, was returning home from work with his colleague Noor Alam when the incident occurred. According to police, the duo was intercepted by five unidentified men near N-18 in the DSIIDC Bawana area around midnight.
“Mustafa was initially admitted to Maharishi Valmiki Hospital with a stab wound, but due to the severity of his condition, he was referred to Dr BSA Hospital,” said a senior police official. Despite medical efforts, he succumbed to his injuries during treatment. His body has been sent for post-mortem examination.
During the preliminary investigation, Noor Alam told authorities that the assailants tried to rob them. When Mustafa resisted, one of the attackers stabbed him. Local residents helped rush Mustafa to the hospital.
While the incident was initially perceived as a targeted assault, investigators now believe robbery was the likely motive. Notably, no belongings were stolen, but Mustafa’s attempt to resist the assailants may have led to the fatal violence, police added.
A case has been registered under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita at the Bawana Police Station. Multiple police teams have been deployed to trace and apprehend the suspects. CCTV footage from the area is being analyzed, and local informers have been activated to assist in the probe.
Further investigation is ongoing.
