Raigad, Maharashtra – May 15: A shocking incident unfolded in the Parli area of Pali, Raigad district, where a man allegedly murdered his girlfriend, a nurse, inside the polyclinic where she worked, before taking his own life, police said on Thursday.

The incident came to light on Tuesday evening when the brother of 22-year-old nurse Pournima Desai grew concerned after she failed to return home and stopped responding to phone calls. He visited the polyclinic and, upon receiving no response, alerted the police.

Authorities broke open the door and discovered Desai lying in a pool of blood, while the accused, Shekhar Dudhane, 26, was found hanging from a ceiling fan inside the same facility.

According to investigators, Dudhane, who was employed at a mobile phone shop, was in a relationship with Desai. However, the couple had been experiencing tension lately, with Dudhane reportedly feeling neglected.

“At around 12:30 pm on Tuesday, Dudhane, in a fit of rage, went to the polyclinic and attacked Desai with a sickle, fatally injuring her. He later hanged himself from a ceiling fan,” a police official stated.

Dudhane has been booked posthumously for murder. The bodies were handed over to the respective families after post-mortem examinations. Police have launched a deeper probe into the circumstances surrounding the case.

Further details are awaited as the investigation continues.
