New Delhi, February 28: A 30-year-old man was arrested in Delhi’s Najafgarh area for allegedly posting pictures with illegal firearms on social media, the police confirmed on Friday.

The accused, identified as Vivek, was apprehended on Monday while reportedly planning a crime. A country-made pistol and a live cartridge were recovered from his possession, authorities stated.

According to Deputy Commissioner of Police (Dwarka) Ankit Singh, Vivek was influenced by local gangsters in Najafgarh and had begun engaging in criminal activities. "In an attempt to establish fear and influence among his peers, he frequently carried weapons and posted pictures of them as social media status updates," Singh said.

Law enforcement officials had been monitoring Vivek’s social media activity, which led to his arrest on February 24 in Najafgarh. During questioning, Vivek revealed that he hails from Mainpuri, Uttar Pradesh, and came into contact with a sharpshooter linked to notorious gangster Kala Jatheri after moving to Delhi.

Authorities are further investigating his connections and any potential criminal plans he may have been involved in.
