New Delhi, May 15 — A man was critically injured after being shot at near Chhatarpur metro station in south Delhi’s Mehrauli area on Thursday afternoon in what police suspect to be a fallout of an old rivalry.
The victim, identified as Arun Lohia, was attacked around 1 p.m. while he was driving his SUV near CDR Chowk. According to officials, motorcycle-borne assailants intercepted his vehicle and opened fire.
“This appears to be a case of personal enmity. Both the victim and the suspects hail from the same village and have a known history of disputes,” a senior police officer said.
Lohia sustained multiple gunshot wounds and was immediately rushed to a nearby hospital, where his condition is reported to be critical.
Following the incident, law enforcement authorities sealed off the area and launched a comprehensive search operation. At least ten rounds were fired, police sources confirmed. Investigators are reviewing CCTV footage from the vicinity to identify and trace the attackers.
A formal case is being registered, and further investigation is underway.
