Manan Kumar Mishra Re-Elected as BCI Chairman for Seventh Consecutive Term

New Delhi, March 1 – Senior advocate and Rajya Sabha MP Manan Kumar Mishra has been re-elected unopposed as the Chairman of the Bar Council of India (BCI) for a historic seventh consecutive term. This reaffirms his continued leadership in representing India's extensive legal fraternity, which comprises nearly 27 lakh advocates.

Srimanto Sen, Principal Secretary of the BCI, confirmed the development, stating, "The elected representatives of India's legal community have once again placed their trust in Manan Kumar Mishra by re-electing him as Chairman unopposed."

Under his leadership, the executive committee members of the BCI will now be selected, further solidifying the council's governance.

Meanwhile, the election for the position of BCI Vice Chairman is set to take place on Sunday. The contesting candidates for the post include S. Prabhakaran from Tamil Nadu and Puducherry, and Ved Prakash Sharma from Delhi.

Additionally, the BCI has announced that a national meeting of advocate representatives and state Bar Council members will be convened on May 17 in New Delhi. The meeting will address critical concerns within the legal profession, including advocate welfare, the long-pending Advocate Protection Act, and other policy matters impacting the future of the bar.

Mishra’s re-election marks a significant milestone in the Indian legal fraternity, underscoring his continued influence and commitment to addressing key legal challenges.
