New Delhi, February 8 Four people, including two minors, were injured after a fire broke out due to a gas leak from a cylinder on the roof of a house in Mangolpuri, a suburb of Delhi, on Sunday, police said.

Following a call received by the police at around 1 pm regarding a fire involving a gas cylinder on the roof of a house, a team immediately rushed to the scene.

By the time the police arrived, the fire had been extinguished with the help of a fire brigade tender, officials said.

Preliminary investigations revealed that there was no explosion, police said, adding that the fire broke out after a gas leak from the cylinder kept on the rooftop.

The injured – Dheeraj, 20, his wife, a 19-year-old, and two minors aged 16 – were taken to the hospital. Two of the four are currently being treated at the Sanjay Gandhi Memorial Hospital, while the other two have been referred to a higher medical center.

Police said the condition of the injured is being monitored, and statements from family members and witnesses are also being recorded to determine the cause of the fire.

Police said initial findings indicate that the fire originated from a gas leak, and there was no explosion at the scene.

Police are assessing the extent of the damage caused by the fire, and whether any safety regulations related to the storage and handling of gas cylinders were being followed.

Further investigation is underway, police said.
