Imphal, February 26: The Manipur government has carried out a major bureaucratic reshuffle, transferring nine senior police officers and five IAS and forest service officers, as per official notifications issued on Wednesday.

The northeastern state has been under President’s Rule since February 13, following the resignation of former Chief Minister N Biren Singh, leading to political uncertainty. The state assembly, which remains in tenure until 2027, has been placed under suspended animation.

Key Police Transfers

  • Shivanand Surve, SP of Senapati district, has been appointed as the new SP of Thoubal district.
  • Th Vikramjit Singh, police chief of Kakching, has been reassigned as Commandant of the 10th IRB.
  • Dharmendra Kumar, previously the SDPO of Lamlai, will now serve as SP of Senapati district.
  • Priyadarshini Laishram, formerly SP (Immigration), will take charge as SP of Kakching.
  • S Ibomcha, who was in charge as SP of Thoubal, has been designated as Commanding Officer of the 6th IRB, along with additional responsibility as Commando Unit SP.

IAS and Forest Service Transfers

In a separate order, the government assigned new roles to five IAS and Indian Forest Service (IFS) officials:

  • Anurag Bajpai, Principal Chief Conservator of Forests and Additional Chief Secretary (Textiles, Commerce & Industries), has been given additional charge of Tribal Affairs and Hills.
  • Naorem Praveen, Director of Manipur Renewable Energy Development Agency, will now handle additional responsibilities as Secretary of Education (Schools).
These transfers come at a crucial time as Manipur remains under the President’s Rule, with administrative control in the hands of the central government. The reshuffle is seen as an effort to stabilize governance and ensure efficient administration in the state.
