Maruti Suzuki India (MSI) reported a slight increase in its total vehicle sales in February 2025, reaching 1,99,400 units compared to 1,97,471 units sold in February last year, marking a marginal year-on-year growth.
Passenger Vehicle Sales Show Slight Uptick
According to the company's statement, domestic passenger vehicle sales stood at 1,60,791 units last month, slightly up from 1,60,271 units in February 2024.Segment-wise Breakdown
- Mini Segment Cars:
Sales for entry-level vehicles, including Alto and S-Presso, witnessed a notable decline, falling to 10,226 units from 14,782 units recorded in the same month the previous year. - Compact Cars:
Compact segment models such as Baleno, Celerio, Dzire, Ignis, Swift, and WagonR saw improved sales, rising to 72,942 units from 71,627 units in February 2024. - Utility Vehicles:
Sales of utility vehicles—including Grand Vitara, Brezza, Ertiga, XL6, and Jimny—performed strongly, achieving 65,033 units compared to 61,234 units during the same month last year. - Vans and Commercial Vehicles:
The Eeco van segment saw a drop to 11,493 units from 12,147 units year-on-year. Additionally, the Super Carry light commercial vehicle sales decreased to 2,710 units, down from 3,126 units in February last year.
Decline in Exports
Maruti Suzuki's exports also witnessed a downturn, standing at 25,021 units last month compared to 28,927 units in February 2024.Overall, the performance highlights a mixed yet stable month for India's largest carmaker amid shifting demand across vehicle categories.
