Mumbai, February 28: A massive fire erupted on Friday morning on the 42nd floor of a highrise residential building in Mumbai's Byculla area. The blaze occurred around 10:45 am at Salette 27, one of the twin highrise buildings located on Babasaheb Ambedkar Road in South Mumbai, officials confirmed.
According to a fire brigade official, emergency services, including fire tenders, reached the spot immediately after receiving reports of the incident. Firefighting operations were swiftly underway, as teams battled to control the flames and prevent further spread.
Fortunately, no casualties have been reported thus far, and all residents are believed to have safely evacuated. Emergency response teams, including Mumbai Police, BEST, and 108 ambulance services, were promptly mobilised to manage the crisis and assist residents as required.
The fire produced thick plumes of black smoke visible from a considerable distance, emanating prominently from the building's partially glass-covered façade.
Authorities have not yet determined the exact cause of the fire, and further investigations into the incident are currently underway.
