New Delhi, May 19 — In a significant move ahead of key political developments, Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) supremo Mayawati has elevated her nephew Akash Anand to the newly created position of Chief National Coordinator, effectively making him the second-most powerful figure within the party.

This decision was formalized during a crucial BSP coordinators’ meeting held in the national capital on Sunday. As Chief National Coordinator, Akash Anand will now operate above the three existing national coordinators, reinforcing his strategic prominence in the party's organizational hierarchy.

The creation of this role marks a renewed phase in Anand’s political journey. He was recently reinstated into the party fold after a public apology in which he reaffirmed his allegiance to Mayawati, declaring her his “only political guru.”

Taking to the social media platform X, Anand expressed gratitude and acknowledged the opportunity to rectify his past missteps.

“I express my heartfelt gratitude to behen ji. She has forgiven my mistakes and has given me an opportunity to contribute in strengthening the Bahujan mission and movement,” Anand said in his post.
Anand’s return and swift promotion underscore Mayawati’s intent to groom the next generation of BSP leadership, while ensuring ideological continuity within the party. His new role is expected to involve active engagement in party strategy, outreach, and campaign planning ahead of upcoming state and national elections.
