Mega semiconductor conference to be held in Gujarat from Mar 5 to 7; top firms to attend

Gandhinagar, Feb 27 – The Gujarat SemiConnect Conference 2024 is set to take place from March 5 to 7 at the Mahatma Mandir Convention Centre in Gandhinagar, with more than 2,500 delegates expected to attend. The conference, aimed at strengthening Gujarat’s position in the semiconductor industry, will be inaugurated in the presence of Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel and Union Minister for Electronics and IT, Ashwini Vaishnaw, a senior official announced on Thursday.

Mona Khandhar, Principal Secretary, Department of Science and Technology, Gujarat, highlighted that the event will feature an exhibition showcasing the entire semiconductor value chain, from raw silicon to cutting-edge semiconductor technology.

Key Global Participants and Investment Announcements​

The conference will witness participation from top industry leaders, including:
  • CS Chua, President & Managing Director, Infineon Technologies Asia Pacific
  • Matt Crowley, EVP, Global Business Unit, JABIL
Both executives are expected to announce new investments in Gujarat, further boosting the state’s semiconductor ecosystem.

Additionally, Ambassador of South Korea to India, Lee Seong-ho, will deliver a special address on South Korea-India relations, emphasizing the semiconductor manufacturing ecosystem in Gujarat. Similarly, Netherlands Ambassador to India, Marisa Gerards, will discuss Indo-Dutch technological collaborations in the semiconductor sector.

Senior executives from Tata Electronics, Micron, Kaynes Technology, and CG Semi will also be present, unveiling major investment plans and strategic initiatives.

Infrastructure and Industry Developments​

The inaugural session will see the unveiling of plans for developing new social infrastructure in Dholera and initiatives for a SMART industrial estate in GIDC Sanand.

The conference will also mark key product launches by domestic semiconductor firms. Notably:
  • Kaynes Technology will conduct the groundbreaking ceremony for its new OSAT (Outsourced Semiconductor Assembly and Test) facility in Sanand.
  • Tata Electronics Private Limited is anticipated to make a significant announcement.
