70 Students from Punjab and Haryana Sheltered in Meghalaya House, Delhi
Shillong, May 10 — In a swift response to the escalating military conflict between India and Pakistan, the Meghalaya government has successfully evacuated around 70 students from the state studying in Punjab and Haryana. The students were relocated to Meghalaya House in Delhi as a precautionary measure.Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma shared the update on social media, stating, “In view of the prevailing situation between our nation and Pakistan, as of this morning, about 70 students from Meghalaya who are pursuing their studies in Punjab and Haryana have been accommodated in Meghalaya House, Delhi.” He added that more students were en route and expected to arrive soon.
Advisory Issued for Evacuation from Border States
A senior official from the state’s Home Department revealed that the Meghalaya government has issued a formal advisory urging parents to evacuate their children studying in states bordering Pakistan. “Several flights from these states have been cancelled, and it is in their best interest to evacuate from their respective institutions at the earliest,” the official said, citing safety concerns amid regional instability.Governor Leads Interfaith Solidarity Meet for National Unity
In a separate development, Meghalaya Governor CH Vijayashankar held a solidarity meeting with leaders of various religious communities to express support for the nation's leadership during Operation Sindoor.The meeting saw participation from church representatives, Buddhist leaders, and members of other faiths, who collectively expressed unity and solidarity with Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the country's top officials spearheading the national response to the current conflict.
