Speaking during the Budget Session, Governor C. H. Vijayashankar stated that the recruitment process for almost 3,000 police positions is nearing completion, with significant investments in police infrastructure, housing, and counter-insurgency training facilities to enhance internal security. He also highlighted progress in border demarcation, road connectivity, digital expansion, education, tourism, renewable energy, and governance reforms across the state. The Governor announced that a Judicial Inquiry Commission will investigate the recent mining tragedy in East Jaintia Hills, reaffirming the state's shift towards scientific mining following the ban imposed by the National Green Tribunal, which was upheld by the Supreme Court of India.
