Mihir Ahuja Aims to be a Chameleon in Acting Career

Mumbai-based actor Mihir Ahuja, best known for his portrayal of Jughead in Netflix's 2023 adaptation of "The Archies," revealed that he aspires to broaden his acting horizon beyond any single genre or role. The 26-year-old actor, recently seen in the international India-Australian co-production "Hindi Vindi," is determined not to get pigeonholed and instead aims for versatility.

"The larger goal for me as an actor is to keep doing great stuff and play versatile roles. It's important for me to try different things and be a chameleon. I don't want to get stuck into just one genre of films. I want to try different genres and roles," said Ahuja during a recent virtual interview.

International Debut in 'Hindi Vindi'

Marking his international debut, Ahuja stars as Kabir, an Australian-Indian character in the recently released musical-drama "Hindi Vindi." Directed by Ali Sayed, who co-wrote the screenplay with Jay Sharma, the film premiered last month in Australia. The story beautifully captures the emotional bond between Kabir and his grandmother, portrayed by veteran actor Neena Gupta.

Mihir Ahuja’s Enduring Connection to Music

A recurring theme across Ahuja's projects has been music. From playing the mouth organ in Netflix's "Taj Mahal 1989" to drumming in "The Archies" and portraying a vocalist in "Hindi Vindi," music continues to weave its way through his work.

"I've been lucky enough to do projects where music is involved," noted Ahuja, highlighting his lifelong inclination towards music. "There is some connection. It's also the universe calling, or is saying that, 'Okay, you should invest more of your time in music too.' I'm getting those signals that I should do something interesting in music, apart from acting. So, I will, soon..."

Upcoming Amazon Original 'Maa Ka Sum'

Next on Ahuja’s slate is the Amazon Original series "Maa Ka Sum," where he shares the screen with acclaimed actors Mona Singh, Angira Dhar, and Ranveer Brar. Directed by Nicholas Kharkongor, this coming-of-age drama revolves around a math prodigy, played by Ahuja, who embarks on a quest to devise an algorithm to find the perfect partner for his vibrant single mother, portrayed by Singh. The series explores the complexity and unpredictability of human relationships, emphasizing that life's equations are always a "work-in-progress."

Learning from Industry Veterans

Reflecting on his experiences, Ahuja expressed gratitude for the opportunity to collaborate with distinguished actors such as Neena Gupta ("Hindi Vindi"), Mona Singh ("Made in Heaven" and "Maa Ka Sum"), and Anupam Kher ("Vijay 69").

"They have been in the industry for so long, and they're pretty good at what they do. Just observing them on set makes a huge difference," concluded Ahuja.
