15-Year-Old Lured from Bihar, Accused Confesses to Plan of Selling Her for Rs 2 Lakh
New Delhi, May 12 — In a swift rescue operation, Delhi Police saved a 15-year-old girl near the railway station after she was allegedly lured from Bihar with the intent of being sold for Rs 2 lakh. The accused, identified as 23-year-old Shashi Kumar, was arrested at the scene.According to police officials, the minor, a resident of Darbhanga in Bihar, left her home two days ago following a quarrel with her mother. She boarded a train to Delhi intending to visit her maternal aunt. It was during this journey that she was approached by the accused at Chhapra Railway Station.
“A suspicious man was seen with a young girl at the railway station. He was apprehended immediately, and the girl was separated for questioning,” a senior police officer said.
During the preliminary inquiry, the girl revealed that Kumar befriended her during the train ride and promised to take her to his brother’s house in Delhi. However, after reaching the capital, his behaviour changed. She alleged that Kumar tried to take her away forcibly and threatened to sell her.
Upon interrogation, Shashi Kumar confessed to police that he had planned to sell the girl for Rs 2 lakh due to his financial struggles.
A case has been registered at the Kamla Market Police Station. Authorities are now investigating whether the accused is part of a larger human trafficking network.
Police said further inquiries are underway to identify any possible links to organized trafficking operations.
