Hyderabad, May 17 – The vibrant spirit of Miss World 2025 took a sporty turn on Saturday as contestants from around the globe gathered at Hyderabad’s Gachibowli Indoor Stadium to celebrate Sports Day. The event came after a series of visits to popular tourist spots across Telangana.

Amid cheers, laughter, and camaraderie, the contestants showcased their sporting side by participating in yoga sessions, friendly badminton matches, and chess games. The stadium buzzed with excitement as the participants danced, waved to the audience, and enjoyed light-hearted banter.

Dignitaries Praise Telangana's Grand Hosting​

The event was attended by Telangana Tourism Minister Jupally Krishna Rao, BCCI Vice President Rajeev Shukla, and Miss World Organisation CEO Julia Morley.

Rajeev Shukla lauded the integration of fitness with glamour, saying, “Sports Day as part of Miss World sends a powerful message of health and wellness to the younger generation.” He commended the Telangana government's initiative to host such a large-scale event, which has attracted delegates from 109 countries, with more expected to join.

Shukla also highlighted the impact of the contestants’ visits to rural tourist destinations, noting that their presence would inspire and motivate people in these areas.

Telangana’s Vision: Sports, Tourism, and Empowerment​

Tourism Minister Jupally Krishna Rao declared the 72nd Miss World Sports Day open and outlined the state’s broader goals. He shared that Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy is set to unveil a new sports policy focused on holistic sports development with a special emphasis on empowering women through increased participation.

As part of this initiative, the Telangana government is establishing the Young India Physical Education and Sports University aimed at identifying and nurturing sports talent, particularly in rural regions.

Krishna Rao emphasised that hosting the Miss World pageant serves to place Telangana on the global tourism map. “Tourism drives employment and exploring new destinations plays a pivotal role in boosting livelihoods,” he said.

A Message of Peace and Global Unity​

The Sports Minister expressed hope that the Miss World contestants would become ambassadors of peace, love, and prosperity, using their global influence to promote unity and wellbeing across cultures.

The day concluded on a high note, with sports and smiles painting a vibrant picture of global friendship and Telangana’s growing prominence on the international stage.
