Aizawl, Feb 4 (PTI) – BJP leader Molin Kumar Chakma officially took charge as the Chief Executive Member (CEM) of the Chakma Autonomous District Council (CADC) in Mizoram on Tuesday, an official confirmed.

The oath of office and secrecy was administered by Lawngtlai Additional Deputy Commissioner Zoramsiama Hmar in a ceremony held at the council's headquarters in Kamalanagar (Chawngte).

The event witnessed the presence of several dignitaries, including Mizo National Front (MNF) legislator and former CEM Rasik Mohan Chakma, alongside political leaders and senior officials of the council.

A Call for Unity and Progress

Delivering his first speech as CEM, Molin Kumar Chakma described the occasion as the beginning of a new executive committee under the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). He urged political parties, NGOs, and intellectuals from the Chakma community to collaborate with his administration for the smooth governance and development of the region.

Following his oath-taking, Chakma unveiled the names of five executive committee members, adding that the allocation of portfolios would be announced soon.

Molin Kumar Chakma’s Political Journey

Chakma, who contested and won from the Bajeisora constituency in the 2023 council elections on a BJP ticket, now leads the executive committee in the Chakma Autonomous District Council, a crucial governing body in Mizoram.

This development marks a significant political shift in the council, further strengthening the BJP’s presence in the region.
