New Delhi, Feb 2 (PTI) – Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge launched a fierce attack on Prime Minister Narendra Modi and AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal on Sunday, calling Modi the "Sardar of liars" and branding Kejriwal as his "baap (father) in deception."

Addressing a public rally in Mustafabad, Kharge accused Kejriwal of betraying Anna Hazare and misleading the people of Delhi for political gain. He urged voters to use AAP’s own election symbol, the broom, to sweep the party out of power.

Kharge’s Direct Attack on Kejriwal

Targeting Kejriwal’s political journey, Kharge claimed the Delhi CM rose to power through lies and false promises.

"Kejriwal made false promises, maligned Congress, and claimed to fight against corruption. He brought elderly Anna Hazare to Delhi, deceived him, and took people’s votes by lying," said Kharge.
He further ridiculed Kejriwal’s shift from an aam aadmi (common man) to a lavish lifestyle:

"He came walking to seek votes, but now resides in a 'sheesh mahal' (glass palace). He once drove a small car, now moves around in a convoy of 10-20 cars. This is his simplicity!"

Modi and Kejriwal: "Two Sides of the Same Coin"

Kharge didn’t hold back on Modi either, taking a jibe at the PM’s humble background narrative.

"Modi says he is a chaiwala, that his mother washed utensils to educate him—how many lies will you speak to gain power?"
Drawing parallels between the two leaders, he remarked:

"On one side, there’s Kejriwal, and on the other, his ‘Bawa’ Modi. Both are chieftains of lies. They will ruin the country."
Kharge also accused both leaders of failing farmers and youth, highlighting Modi’s unfulfilled promises on employment and agrarian distress.

"I have always called Modi the ‘Sardar of Lies,’ but Kejriwal has outdone him," he said.

Delhi Riots and AAP’s Silence

In a sharp critique, Kharge questioned Kejriwal’s and BJP leaders' absence during the 2020 Delhi riots, reminding the audience that Rahul Gandhi stood with the victims in Mustafabad, while others remained silent.

"Where was Kejriwal when Delhi burned?" he asked.

Congress' Legacy vs Modi’s ‘Arrogance’

Kharge underscored the Congress party’s contributions to India's independence and development, contrasting it with Modi’s claims.

"If you ask Modi or Mohan Bhagwat when India got independence, they won’t say 15th August 1947. Modi will say 2014, and Bhagwat will claim 2024 when the Ram Mandir was built."
He also took a dig at Modi’s economic policies, calling out the rupee’s depreciation.

"Modi once said the rupee was in the ICU. Today, it’s on a ventilator at Rs 86 per dollar."

A Call to Action: ‘Sweep Out AAP and BJP’

Urging voters to reject both AAP and BJP, Kharge asked them to support Congress candidate Ali Mehdi, promising dedicated service.

He also warned against vote-splitters targeting Muslims and Dalits, in an apparent reference to AIMIM, which has fielded Tahir Hussain from the seat.

"This election is about saving the country, not about who becomes CM. It’s time to clean house—use the broom to sweep out AAP and BJP!"
As the Lok Sabha elections draw near, Kharge’s blistering speech signals a heated battle ahead in Delhi’s political landscape.
