Patna, May 12 – The mortal remains of BSF sub-inspector Mohammed Imtiaz, who lost his life in heavy cross-border firing by Pakistan along the international border in Jammu and Kashmir’s RS Pura sector, arrived at Patna airport on Monday. His death, which occurred on the evening of May 10, drew tributes from leaders across party lines and marked a solemn moment for Bihar and the nation.
State Honours and Emotional Tributes
Upon arrival at the airport, the body was received with full honours. Security personnel gave a guard of honour, followed by a wreath-laying ceremony attended by prominent state leaders and officials. Among those present were Leader of Opposition Tejashwi Yadav, Bihar BJP president Dilip Jaiswal, ministers, and senior administrative officers.Subsequently, the body was transported to Imtiaz's native village, Narayanpur in Saran district, where his final rites will be conducted with full state honours later in the day.
Family’s Grief and Resolve
Speaking to the media, Imtiaz’s son, Imran Raza, remembered his father as a courageous man. "I had last spoken to him at 5:30 am on May 10. He was injured in the leg but still resilient. I am proud of my father and all those who have sacrificed their lives for the nation," he said with emotion.He also called for a strong stance against Pakistan, saying, “Our government should give such a befitting reply to Pakistan that no son loses his father ever again.”
Leaders Laud His Bravery
Leader of Opposition Tejashwi Yadav said, “Imtiaz was martyred while giving a befitting reply to Pakistan at the RS Pura border. Brave souls like him are the reason we live in safety. The country will forever remember their sacrifice.”State Rural Development Minister Shravan Kumar echoed similar sentiments, affirming, “Mohammed Imtiaz's sacrifice did not go in vain. Our brave soldiers have avenged his loss.”
