Bhopal, April 4 – Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav on Friday praised the historic passage of the Waqf (Amendment) Bill 2025 in Parliament, attributing the legislative success to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s inclusive development agenda,

In a statement, Yadav emphasized that the Bill would ensure efficient management, greater transparency, and enhanced protection of Waqf properties, ultimately safeguarding the rights and welfare of economically weaker sections within the Muslim community.

Strong Parliamentary Backing

The contentious legislation was passed after intensive debates in both Houses of Parliament. The Lok Sabha approved the Bill on Thursday with 288 votes in favour and 232 against, followed by its passage in the Rajya Sabha early Friday, where 128 members supported it and 95 opposed.

Yadav noted that the wide support the Bill received, especially in the Rajya Sabha, was a testament to the government’s commitment to reforms that benefit all communities.

“PM Modi Cares for Every Section of Society”

“Prime Minister Narendra Modi has concerns for every section of society, which is why the Waqf (Amendment) Bill 2025 could be passed in both Houses. The overwhelming welcome it has received from people, especially the Muslim community, reflects its broad-based support,” Yadav said.

He criticized those who opposed the Bill, stating that while they speak about minority welfare, they have failed to take meaningful action.

Empowering Women and Securing Heritage

Yadav also stressed the Bill's potential to empower Muslim women, stating that it would bring positive changes to their lives. The legislation is expected to curb financial irregularities, prevent illegal encroachments on Waqf land, and boost revenue for state Waqf Boards.

A Step Toward Transparent Waqf Property Governance

The Waqf (Amendment) Bill 2025 is aimed at streamlining the management of Waqf properties—assets permanently donated by Muslims for religious or charitable purposes. It includes provisions to safeguard heritage sites and promote social welfare through better regulatory oversight and accountability.
