New Delhi, May 14 — Senior BJP leader Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi on Wednesday strongly condemned Madhya Pradesh minister Vijay Shah’s controversial remarks targeting senior Army officer Colonel Sofia Qureshi, calling Shah a “fool” for his objectionable statement.
Colonel Qureshi, who recently addressed the media alongside Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri and Wing Commander Vyomika Singh during Operation Sindoor, became the focus of a political storm after Shah seemingly associated her with terrorists.
Reacting to the backlash, Shah said he was willing to apologise "ten times" if anyone was hurt by his comments. He further added that he respects Colonel Qureshi more than his own sister.
However, Naqvi dismissed Shah’s clarification, telling PTI Videos, “Wo bewakoof hain (He is a fool).” He further remarked, “Kuch log josh mein hosh khone ke aadi ban gaye hain (Some people have become habitual of losing sense in enthusiasm).”
Naqvi denounced the remarks as “unacceptable and condemnable,” stating that Shah had made a mockery of himself with such statements. He praised Colonel Qureshi and her family's unwavering commitment to national security, saying the nation salutes them for their nationalist resolve.
