Mulund Metro Incident: CM Promises Action Following Construction Collapse.webp

Nagpur, February 14 Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis said a thorough investigation will be conducted into the incident in Mulund, Mumbai, on Saturday, where a section of the metro rail collapsed, killing one person and injuring three others.

The investigation will cover aspects of safety, precautions during construction, and action will be taken against those responsible, he said.

A safety audit will be initiated immediately at all such sites to prevent such incidents, the chief minister said while speaking at an event here.

One person died and three others were injured when a section of the girder bridge of the under-construction metro rail line 4 collapsed on several vehicles in Mumbai's Mulund area this afternoon, police and civic officials said.

A section of the parapet wall of the girder bridge fell near the Johnson and Johnson factory on the arterial LBS Road, damaging an autorickshaw and a Skoda car.

Line 4 is an under-construction route from Wadala in south-central Mumbai to neighboring Thane, with a significant portion passing over the arterial LBS Road, connecting areas like Vikhroli, Bhandup, and Mulund.

"The accident in Mulund is very unfortunate. Our prayers are with the families of the deceased and those injured. The injured will be provided with medical expenses by MMRDA and the state government," Fadnavis said.

"An inquiry will be initiated to determine whether proper care was taken regarding safety. Action will be taken against those responsible," he said.
