Mumbai: Gas Pipeline Leak Sparks Fire in Andheri, 3 Injured, Vehicles Damaged

Incident Occurred Near Sher-E-Punjab Society, Andheri East​


Three individuals sustained injuries after a gas pipeline leak triggered a fire in Mumbai's Andheri area early Sunday morning. The incident, which also damaged two vehicles, took place at approximately 12:35 AM, according to fire department officials.


The fire erupted due to a significant gas leakage from a supply pipeline owned by Mahanagar Gas Limited. The pipeline passes through the middle of a road near the Sher-E-Punjab society, close to a gurdwara in the Takshila locality of Andheri East.


Swift Response Contained the Fire​


Categorized as a "level-one" fire, the blaze was initially restricted to two moving vehicles at the site. Emergency response teams quickly arrived with a fire engine, water tanker, and additional support, successfully extinguishing the flames by 1:34 AM.


Investigation Underway​


Officials are yet to determine the exact cause of the gas leak and subsequent fire. Investigations are currently ongoing to identify the root cause and prevent similar incidents from occurring in the future.
