Police ban use of firecrackers in Mumbai for a month.webp

Crackdown on Explosives from May 11 to June 9 to Maintain Public Order

Mumbai, May 10 – The Mumbai Police has announced a complete ban on the use of firecrackers across the city from May 11 to June 9, citing the need to maintain peace and prevent any panic amid ongoing regional tensions.

The directive, issued under the Maharashtra Police Act, was confirmed by the Deputy Commissioner of Police (Operations). The ban prohibits the bursting of all types of firecrackers, including rockets and other explosive devices, within the city's municipal limits.

The enforcement comes in the backdrop of heightened sensitivity following the recent India-Pakistan military conflict, which culminated in the announcement of a ceasefire on Saturday evening. Authorities appear to be taking precautionary measures to ensure that sudden loud noises, such as those caused by fireworks, do not alarm the public or disrupt law and order.

The police have urged citizens to cooperate with the temporary ban, emphasizing that it is a preventive step aimed at maintaining public safety and communal harmony.

Violators of this order may face legal action under applicable sections of the Maharashtra Police Act.
