Mumbai, February 28: The Mumbai Traffic Police's WhatsApp helpline received a threatening message from a Pakistan-based number, warning of an attack on Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis' office in Mantralaya, an official reported on Thursday.

The sender, who identified himself as Malik Shahbaz Raza, sent the message in English. Following the alert, authorities registered a case at the Worli police station, and an investigation is currently underway, the official confirmed.

This is not the first time the helpline has received such threats. In November last year, a similar message targeted Bollywood actor Salman Khan, demanding ₹5 crore as extortion. In December, a separate threat message against Prime Minister Narendra Modi led to the arrest of a 37-year-old Jharkhand resident from Rajasthan. More recently, on February 21, a message threatening to blow up Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde’s vehicle resulted in the arrest of two individuals from Buldhana.

Authorities are treating the latest threat seriously and have intensified security measures while tracing the origin of the message. The investigation is ongoing.
