Mumbai, May 11 — A 40-year-old beautician from Malwani, Mumbai, has been booked for allegedly posting an objectionable social media status regarding "Operation Sindoor", the recent military action carried out by Indian armed forces.
According to police, the woman, who operates a local beauty parlour, shared a WhatsApp status that criticized the operation, stating, "When governments make reckless decisions, it's the innocent on both sides who pay the price, not the ones in power", and added a slang term dismissing the operation.
Following the post, an FIR was registered against her under the provisions of the Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita (BNS). Authorities have served her a notice to participate in the investigation.
Operation Sindoor was launched by Indian armed forces during the night of May 7 and 8, targeting terrorist infrastructures in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir. These sites were reportedly involved in planning and directing attacks against India.
Police have initiated a probe to determine the intent and implications of the social media post.
