Kohima, May 10 — The Naga Students' Federation (NSF) has called on the Nagaland government to take immediate measures to evacuate students and professionals from the state who are currently stranded in Northern India due to the ongoing military tensions between India and Pakistan.
In a formal letter addressed to the Chief Secretary of Nagaland on Saturday, NSF leaders expressed deep concern over the well-being of Naga students and working professionals whose lives have been disrupted following airport closures across the region.
“The lives of Naga students and working professionals have been thrown into disarray,” NSF President Medovi Rhi and Education Secretary Temjentoshi wrote in the letter.
The federation highlighted that numerous individuals from Nagaland, affected by the situation, are actively seeking help to return home. It urged the state administration to set up a robust mechanism to ensure the prompt and secure repatriation of its citizens.
“This situation calls for a swift and affirmative action,” the NSF stressed, emphasizing the critical need for the state government to act decisively in protecting and assisting those stranded due to the escalating conflict.
The appeal comes amid heightened concerns over civilian safety following the closure of transportation hubs and the broader impact of the conflict on students and migrant workers from the Northeast.
