Kolkata, May 10 – Edtech company Nalanda Learning is set to raise ₹50 crore through private placement to support its mission of imparting skill training to pre-school teachers and caregivers, in alignment with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2025.
According to CEO Chris Raybould, the company is in advanced discussions with high-net-worth individuals (HNIs) for this funding round, which is expected to conclude within the current financial year.

“The NEP mandates skill training for pre-school educators. With around 84 lakh pre-school teachers and caregivers in India, there is a significant need for professional development in this sector,” said Raybould, a Wales-based educator.The NEP 2025 recognizes nursery, junior KG, and senior KG as the foundational years in early childhood education, making skill enhancement a crucial step for quality learning outcomes.

Co-founder Tamal Mukherjee outlined that the upcoming training programme will span 30 hours and be delivered entirely online. It will cater not only to aspiring educators but also to in-service teachers seeking to upskill.The certification for the course will be provided by the Management & Entrepreneurship and Professional Skills Council (MEPSC), functioning under the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship.
