Kolkata, May 10 – Edtech company Nalanda Learning is set to raise ₹50 crore through private placement to support its mission of imparting skill training to pre-school teachers and caregivers, in alignment with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2025.

According to CEO Chris Raybould, the company is in advanced discussions with high-net-worth individuals (HNIs) for this funding round, which is expected to conclude within the current financial year.

Addressing

“The NEP mandates skill training for pre-school educators. With around 84 lakh pre-school teachers and caregivers in India, there is a significant need for professional development in this sector,” said Raybould, a Wales-based educator.

The NEP 2025 recognizes nursery, junior KG, and senior KG as the foundational years in early childhood education, making skill enhancement a crucial step for quality learning outcomes.

Online

Co-founder Tamal Mukherjee outlined that the upcoming training programme will span 30 hours and be delivered entirely online. It will cater not only to aspiring educators but also to in-service teachers seeking to upskill.

The certification for the course will be provided by the Management & Entrepreneurship and Professional Skills Council (MEPSC), functioning under the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship.

Expansion

Mukherjee also revealed Nalanda Learning’s ambitions to expand its skill training initiatives to selected Gulf countries, where demand for early childhood educators is on the rise.

Little

In addition to its training initiatives, Nalanda Learning operates a network of foundation schools under the Little Laureates brand, reinforcing its commitment to early childhood education.

The planned ₹50 crore fundraise is poised to strengthen Nalanda’s capacity to meet national policy goals and expand its global footprint in preschool education.
