Baghpat's Self-Taught Designer Returns to the Red Carpet With 700-Hour Couture Creation.

New Delhi, May 17 — Nancy Tyagi, the self-taught fashion designer hailing from Baghpat, Uttar Pradesh, made a stunning return to the Cannes Film Festival red carpet in 2025, once again wearing an outfit she entirely designed and crafted herself.

Following her sensational debut at Cannes in 2024, Tyagi captivated global audiences this year in a bespoke turquoise ensemble, which she described as being inspired by a garden in full bloom. The striking outfit featured delicately hand-painted floral motifs, a sculpted corset bodice, and a flowing, romantic silhouette — the result of over 700 hours of meticulous work.

“I walked here last year, and since then my life has completely changed. My outfit is inspired by flowers because I really love them. It took 700 hours to create this,” Tyagi shared in a statement. “Heartfelt thanks to everyone who has been a part of this beautiful journey. This moment would be incomplete without them.”

Before rising to prominence, Tyagi was preparing for the civil services in Delhi. Her transition into fashion was driven by her passion and creativity, which she channeled into making clothing from scratch and sharing her designs online. Today, she boasts a following of over three million on Instagram, where her journey from humble beginnings to global acclaim continues to inspire.

Tyagi first made headlines at Cannes in 2024 with her debut pink gown, part of a collection of four self-designed garments that took her nearly two months to complete. Her continued presence at the prestigious festival solidifies her place as a rising force in global fashion, celebrated for both her artistry and authenticity.
