Navi Mumbai Authorities Destroy Rs 10 Crore Worth of Seized Drugs in Anti-Narcotics Operation

Thane, February 26: In a significant crackdown on illegal drugs, authorities in Navi Mumbai destroyed narcotics worth Rs 10 crore on Wednesday. The disposal was carried out at a facility in Taloja under the supervision of the Narcotics Control Bureau, according to an official statement from the Navi Mumbai police.

The move was part of a broader effort to eliminate banned substances from circulation. In 2023 and 2024, law enforcement agencies seized drugs valued at Rs 56 crore across 1,143 cases, leading to the arrest of 1,743 individuals. Among them, 111 African nationals were apprehended with narcotics worth Rs 38 crore, the statement revealed.

On Wednesday, drugs linked to 40 cases, amounting to Rs 10 crore, were destroyed in the presence of Maharashtra Forest Minister Ganesh Naik and MLA Prashant Thakur. Naik represents the Airoli constituency, while Thakur serves as the legislator from Panvel.

Authorities reiterated their commitment to curbing the drug menace and preventing illicit substances from reaching the public.
