New Delhi, Feb 3 (PTI) – The National Commission for Women (NCW) is set to organize a National Consultation Meet on Pre-Marital Counseling and Education in Pune on Tuesday, aiming to enhance family well-being and address rising concerns in marital relationships.
This initiative seeks to promote pre-marital counseling as a preventive approach to tackle issues such as domestic violence, emotional distress, and marital discord. The NCW emphasized that strengthening relationships through counseling and education can contribute to healthier marriages.
The event will bring together experts from diverse fields—including health, education, law, psychology, and social work—to discuss key strategies. The discussions will center on emotional and financial preparedness for marriage, conflict resolution, legal rights, protection against domestic violence, and the role of educational institutions in incorporating pre-marital counseling into their curriculum.
Justice Victoria Gowri of the Madras High Court will be the chief guest, while NCW Chairperson Vijaya Rahatkar will also address the gathering. The event is expected to witness participation from advocates, retired judges, NGOs, and counselors from across the country.
This consultation underscores the NCW’s commitment to fostering stronger, healthier marriages by equipping individuals with the necessary knowledge and skills before entering into wedlock.
