Bhubaneswar Applauds as India’s Javelin Star Achieves Career Milestone at Diamond League
Bhubaneswar, May 17 — Indian javelin sensation Neeraj Chopra crossed a monumental threshold in his career by throwing an impressive 90.23 metres at the Doha Diamond League, marking his first-ever 90 m-plus throw in an international event. Though he had to settle for second place behind Germany's Julian Weber in a fiercely contested final, the achievement drew widespread praise from Odisha’s political and sports leadership.Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi hailed the throw as a “historic moment and a proud milestone for Indian athletics.”

Neeraj Chopra, 27, achieved the milestone in his third attempt, becoming the third Asian and the 25th javelin thrower in history to cross the elite 90m mark. He now joins a distinguished group of athletes, including his coach and world record holder, Jan Zelezny of Czechia, who have achieved this feat.
Former Odisha Chief Minister and Leader of Opposition Naveen Patnaik also extended his congratulations.
