A Qatar Airways flight bound for Kathmandu, carrying Nepal's Foreign Minister Arzu Rana Deuba, was diverted to Kolkata on Friday after poor weather prevented landing at Tribhuvan International Airport.

Minister Deuba, 63, was returning to Kathmandu on a scheduled flight after attending a United Nations meeting in Geneva. Due to a western low-pressure system affecting the Kathmandu Valley, light rainfall caused reduced visibility on Friday morning, prompting the unexpected diversion.

According to officials at Tribhuvan International Airport, the Qatar Airways aircraft, which departed from Doha, safely landed in Kolkata amid deteriorating weather conditions.

"The flight will resume its journey to Kathmandu as soon as weather conditions normalize," confirmed an airport staff member.

No immediate details were available about the exact number of passengers aboard the flight, aside from Minister Deuba.
