Peshawar, May 10 – In a deadly assault on security forces in northwest Pakistan, at least nine personnel were killed and five others injured when terrorists targeted a check post in South Waziristan's Shakai tehsil, according to media reports.

The attack took place on Friday at the Danda Check Post, located in the tribal district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province near the Afghanistan border. The area has long been known for insurgent activity and has seen repeated clashes between militants and the Pakistani military.

As per a report by Daily Mashriq, an Urdu-language newspaper, the wounded security personnel were swiftly transported to a hospital by a quick response unit following the attack. However, there has been no official confirmation or statement from Pakistan's military media wing regarding the incident so far.

This attack marks one of the deadliest in recent months in the region, highlighting the persistent security challenges in the tribal belt despite ongoing counter-terrorism operations.
