New Delhi, February 2 (PTI) – Strengthening India’s position as a key global export hub, Japanese automaker Nissan has commenced shipments of the left-hand drive (LHD) version of its compact SUV, the Magnite, to new international markets. With this latest expansion, Nissan will now be exporting vehicles from India to 65 countries, up from the previous 20.
According to Frank Torres, President of Nissan India Operations, the company has started exporting 10,000 units of the LHD Magnite across various global markets. The first batch includes 2,000 units destined for the Middle East, North Africa, and the Asia Pacific region, while over 5,100 units will be shipped to select Latin American markets, including Mexico, by the end of February 2025.
"With the start of LHD exports, India is now one of the top global export hubs for Nissan, significantly contributing to our international market strategy," Torres stated.
"We are actively studying hybrid and CNG options to complement our current portfolio. Our EV plans are already confirmed for launch before FY26," Torres revealed.
Additionally, he hinted at the possibility of introducing more new models in India, stating that the company is in the final phase of evaluating additional vehicle launches.
"Nissan remains committed to its Indian operations, partners, and customers. India is one of the fastest-growing automotive markets globally, and we see only positive outcomes ahead," he affirmed.
"India is a crucial part of our global supply chain, and we remain dedicated to our operations, dealer network, and customers in the country," Vatsa added.
With expanding exports, new models, and innovative powertrain options, Nissan’s aggressive growth strategy signals a stronger footprint in India and beyond, further solidifying its position as a global automotive leader.
