Jaipur, Feb 3 (PTI) – Rajasthan's Minister of State for Power, Hiralal Nagar, informed the Assembly on Monday that no irregularities were detected in the quality tests of coal used in the state's power plants.
Addressing concerns over coal quality, Nagar explained that a stringent three-tier Gross Calorific Value (GCV) test is conducted to ensure compliance with standards. He further emphasized that payments for coal procurement are made strictly based on the minimum GCV, ensuring transparency in transactions.
The minister assured the House that all tests conducted confirmed the coal's quality, dispelling any allegations of discrepancies. He highlighted the consistent progress in power generation, stating that Rajasthan Energy Production Corporation has been performing satisfactorily, with significant improvements observed in daily electricity output and operational efficiency.
Notably, Nagar revealed that the highest power production in recent years has been recorded in the past eight months. His statements came in response to supplementary questions raised during the Question Hour.
Earlier, in a written response to MLA Ramkesh’s query, the minister provided a detailed breakdown of gross power generation across various powerhouses over the past five years. He reaffirmed that effective measures are continuously being implemented to enhance power production across the state.
With Rajasthan’s power sector showing steady improvement, the government aims to maintain transparency and efficiency in energy production.
