New Delhi, March 2: Northern Coalfields Ltd (NCL), a key subsidiary of Coal India, expressed optimism in meeting its annual coal production target of 139 million tonnes (MT) for the ongoing fiscal year.
According to an official statement released by NCL, the company has already achieved a production milestone of 128.13 MT by the end of February. "We are hopeful that we will also achieve our annual target," the statement read.
In terms of dispatch, NCL reported dispatching 125.78 MT of coal during the April-February period of the current fiscal year. The dispatch target for the entire year stands at 139 MT, matching the production goal.
First Aid Training Initiative for Homemakers
Known for its highly mechanized mining operations and pivotal role in securing India's energy future, NCL recently undertook a significant community-focused initiative. On January 26, the company launched an ambitious First Aid Training Program targeting homemakers, aiming to extend health and safety awareness beyond workplaces and into employees' homes.Within just one month, the training program has successfully educated approximately 1,500 homemakers through multiple sessions conducted across various project locations.
By integrating first aid awareness into households, NCL is nurturing a primary-care-conscious community, reinforcing preparedness, and promoting overall family safety.
NCL's Vital Role in India's Energy Security
Northern Coalfields Ltd continues to be instrumental in meeting India's energy demands. Around 88% of the coal produced by NCL is supplied directly to the power sector. Furthermore, NCL contributes roughly 15% to India's total coal output, translating to about 10% of the nation’s total power generation.This solidifies NCL's position as a critical entity in India's energy ecosystem, reliably supporting the nation's growing electricity needs.
