Sambhal, April 2 – A notorious criminal, involved in the violent incidents in Sambhal last year, has been arrested by local police after evading capture for four years. Dilip, also known as Harish, was a key figure in the gang led by Shariq Satha and has been active in criminal activities for over three decades. His arrest comes after a string of violent events that rocked the city in November 2024.
Superintendent of Police (SP) Krishna Kumar Bishnoi confirmed the arrest on Tuesday, noting that the Asmoli police station team had successfully apprehended Dilip as part of the ongoing crackdown against criminals.
“From 1993 onwards, he has been a professional auto-lifter, stealing vehicles,” SP Bishnoi stated. “Until 2020, he was actively working with Shariq Satha’s gang.”
With more than 40 criminal cases registered against him across various states, Dilip’s arrest marks a significant victory for law enforcement. His first crime was stealing a vehicle in Moradabad in 1993. Despite a lengthy period of evasion, the Asmoli police successfully apprehended him after a determined manhunt.
