Sambhal, April 1 – Police have apprehended Dilip, also known as Harish, a notorious criminal with a long history in the world of crime. Once a member of the infamous gang led by Shariq Satha, Dilip is allegedly one of the key figures behind the violent incidents in Sambhal that led to the deaths of four civilians in November last year.
According to Superintendent of Police (SP) Krishna Kumar Bishnoi, Dilip's criminal activities were not limited to a single region. From vehicle theft to violent incidents, he has a long and troubling record. He was involved in vehicle theft since 1993, stealing cars from multiple states, including Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Uttarakhand, Delhi, and Rajasthan. The stolen vehicles were then sold in places like Nagaland, West Bengal, and Siliguri.
The violent events during the survey led to the deaths of four civilians. Authorities believe Dilip was a significant player in instigating the violence, marking his involvement in high-profile criminal activities in the region.
"His criminal career includes over 40 cases registered across multiple states. Until his arrest, Dilip was evading capture, continuing his crime spree," said SP Bishnoi. "He has a long history of changing identities, making him a difficult target for law enforcement."
"This arrest is a significant step in our ongoing efforts to rid Sambhal and surrounding areas of criminal elements," Bishnoi added.
A Career in Crime Spanning Over 30 Years
Dilip, who has been active in criminal activities for more than three decades, was wanted for various crimes and had a reward of Rs 25,000 for his capture.
