New Delhi, March 1, 2025 – NTPC Ltd, India’s largest integrated power utility, has achieved a remarkable milestone by generating 400 Billion Units (BU) of electricity in the Financial Year 2024-25, recording its fastest-ever pace. The state-run power giant accomplished this feat in just 335 days—12 days faster than the previous fiscal year, as stated by the company on Saturday.

Last year, NTPC reached the same 400 BU generation milestone on March 13, 2024, highlighting significant improvement and efficiency gains in power production.

Currently, NTPC contributes nearly one-fourth of India's total electricity supply, showcasing its pivotal role in powering the nation. The company presently has an installed generation capacity exceeding 77 Gigawatts (GW), with an additional 29.5 GW under active construction. Notably, this expansion includes a dedicated 9.6 GW capacity focused solely on renewable energy sources.

Committed to sustainability, NTPC aims to expand its renewable energy portfolio significantly, targeting an impressive 60 GW capacity by the year 2032.

Beyond conventional power generation, NTPC has strategically diversified into emerging sectors such as e-mobility, battery storage, pumped hydro storage, waste-to-energy projects, nuclear power, and green hydrogen initiatives. Additionally, the company has actively participated in bids for power distribution projects across various Union Territories, signaling its ambition to broaden its presence across the energy value chain.

This achievement underscores NTPC’s ongoing commitment to driving India's energy transition through innovation, diversification, and sustainable growth.
