NTPC Green Energy Fully Commissions 300 MW Solar Project in Bikaner, Rajasthan

New Delhi, March 1, 2025: NTPC Green Energy Ltd. (NGEL), a subsidiary of state-owned power major NTPC, has successfully achieved full commercial operations of its 300 MW Shambu ki Burj-2 Solar PV Project, located in Bikaner, Rajasthan. The project's final capacity segment of 18.32 MW commenced electricity supply from midnight on March 1, marking the completion of the entire 300 MW facility.

With this latest milestone, the NTPC group's total installed and commercially operational capacity now stands at 77,411.50 MW, according to a regulatory filing by the company.

Phased Commissioning of Shambu ki Burj-2 Solar PV Project​

The Shambu ki Burj-2 (Kolayat) Solar PV Project was executed in four phases:
  • First phase (150 MW) became operational at 00:00 hours on September 29, 2022.
  • Second phase (98.78 MW) commenced operations at 23:00 hours on September 30, 2024.
  • Third phase (32.90 MW) became commercially operational at 00:00 hours on October 31, 2024.
  • Final phase (18.32 MW) initiated commercial operations at 00:00 hours on March 1, 2025.
This strategic commissioning has allowed NGEL to progressively scale up renewable energy generation, contributing significantly to India's renewable energy goals.
