NTPC Achieves 238.6 Billion Units Generation, Expands Capacity to 80 GW
India's largest integrated power utility, NTPC Group, witnessed a growth of approximately 4% in power generation, achieving 238.6 billion units (BUs) in the financial year ending March 31, 2025. The group significantly expanded its infrastructure by adding 3,972 MW of new capacity, elevating its total installed capacity to around 80 GW.
Ambitious Expansion Plans Underway
Besides the operational capacity of 80 GW, NTPC Group is actively constructing an additional 32 GW capacity. This expansion notably includes 15 GW dedicated to renewable energy, aligning with India's broader commitment to sustainable power sources.
NTPC's vision underscores its ambitious target of achieving a renewable energy capacity of 60 GW by 2032, showcasing a clear strategic pivot towards clean energy initiatives.
Diversifying into Emerging Energy Segments
Reflecting its commitment to innovation and sustainability, NTPC is diversifying into various emerging sectors. The company's new business ventures encompass e-mobility, battery storage solutions, pumped hydro storage projects, waste-to-energy initiatives, nuclear energy, and green hydrogen solutions.
NTPC Group, functioning under India's Ministry of Power, currently fulfills roughly one-fourth of the nation's electricity demand, reinforcing its critical role in India's power landscape.
