Calls for Volunteer Participation to Strengthen Public Safety and National Security

Bhubaneswar, May 11 – Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi made a passionate appeal to the youth of the state to step forward and join civil defence organisations as volunteers, emphasizing their vital role in safeguarding the nation.

In a video message, Majhi said, “The security of the lives and property of the common people of the country is the responsibility of all of us. Security and service are our top responsibilities.” Addressing the younger generation, he said they embody hope, strength, and trust, and called on them to join the civil defence with a spirit of nationalism and public service.

The Chief Minister encouraged interested individuals to apply through their respective district collectors, who function as controllers of civil defence at the district level. He assured that volunteers will receive training and can be mobilised when required to serve society.

Currently, civil defence units operate at 12 locations across Odisha. However, Majhi noted that efforts are underway to expand this network. “I have instructed officials to establish new such units as per requirement,” he added, expressing confidence that many young people will heed the call to serve.
