Odisha Job Scam: Two Arrested for Duping Aspirants of ₹5 Lakh

Jajpur, Odisha – Two individuals were arrested in Odisha’s Jajpur district for allegedly deceiving job seekers by promising them government jobs in exchange for money. The accused, who reportedly swindled multiple aspirants from Jajpur and Dhenkanal districts, were taken into custody following a complaint at the Jenapur Police Station, officials confirmed on Thursday.

According to Nirupama Jena, Inspector-in-Charge of Jenapur Police Station, the preliminary investigation revealed that the duo targeted job seekers from areas including Dharmasala, Jaraka, Jenapur, and Nihalaprasad. By falsely assuring government employment, they managed to collect over ₹5 lakh from the victims.

Authorities suspect a larger network behind the scam and have launched an in-depth investigation to identify other individuals involved. The arrested persons have been booked under multiple sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) for offenses related to cheating, forgery, and fraudulent document usage.

Following the rejection of their bail applications on Wednesday, both accused were remanded to judicial custody. The police have urged potential victims to come forward and report any similar incidents.
